Time Interpolation (Smooth Slow Motion)

Enable Time Interpolation

Time interpolation is one of NodeVideo's core advanced features. It intelligently analyzes the motion trajectories of objects in video and generates entirely new intermediate frames between existing frames. It's mainly used to create smoother slow-motion effects, making fast-moving scenes no longer choppy or blurry, approaching professional post-production quality.

  • Steps
  • Select any video layer on the timeline (must be a video asset layer)
  • Click the [Layer Menu] on the layer (shown as three horizontal lines)
  • Select [Time Interpolation] → [Optical Flow], entering the time interpolation settings interface
  • Adjust parameters as needed (most cases can keep defaults)
  • After settings are complete, return to the timeline and perform speed adjustment on the video layer (recommend 0.1x–0.5x range for most noticeable effect) → for detailed video speed tutorial, refer to: Video Speed
Video Tutorial
  • ⚠️ Important Notes
  • Preview ≠ Final Result
  • For smoothness, the time interpolation quality in timeline preview is intentionally lowered, and the image may show jello effect, blur, or artifacts -- please refer to the actual exported file as the final result!
  • Time interpolation is computationally demanding; for complex projects or long videos, it's recommended to process in segments
  • The higher the quality of the asset itself (clarity, frame rate, stable lighting), the better the interpolation result
Interpolate for Specific Segment

Cut out the segment you need, then enable time interpolation for that segment. For detailed tutorial, please refer to Quick Start - Edit Timeline.

💡Choppy Time Interpolation result?
  • Direct Cause → The asset has duplicate frames!
  • Enable [Remove Duplicate Frames] in the frame interpolation interface to solve this. (Common in: other app speed changes/secondary exported assets)

⚠️ Important Reminder: Please prioritize using original recording assets (camera/phone directly captured original files), which have the fewest duplicate frames and the best interpolation effect
